Our Mission Statement
Through positive relationships we seek to help all children reach their individual potential in all areas of development and learning. The Committee and staff do this by;
- Providing a safe, secure and caring environment.
- Ensuring all children enjoy being part of a happy community group.
- Ensuring each individual is valued through encouragement and praise
Committed to equality and safeguarding children in our care
We operate an inclusive practice and do not discriminate against anyone regardless of their gender, ethnicity, disability or special needs.
The above was adopted by the Committee of Prebend Pre-school on the 23rd May, 2012
Prebend Pre-school started in 1976 moving to our current premises some 25 years ago! We provide a safe, secure, welcoming and stimulating environment for children aged 2 to 5 (including those in nappies) to learn to socialise and develop emotionally, intellectually and physically through well planned play, working towards the Early Learning Goals within the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
We have seen many changes over the years. In 2009, we opened our Sensory Garden which extends existing opportunities for daily learning in the outdoor environment.
In 2014 we introduced weekly Woodland Learning Sessions that take place in the neighbouring Sacrista woodland area.
In September 2016 we launched our extended hours offer, the Pre-school now opens from 7:30am until 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. Breakfast and after school clubs are open to children aged 2 to 7, as well as flexible holiday clubs.
We offer 2 Hour Early Years sessions as an introduction to Pre-school where 2 year olds are welcome to stay and play with or without their carer for a shorter session.
At Prebend Pre-school we want all children to enjoy being part of a happy community group in which every individual is valued through encouragement and praise and through positive relationships we seek to help all children reach their individual potential in all areas of their development and learning. Our aims were confirmed by our most recent Ofsted inspection which rated us ‘Good’ across all areas:
‘Children enjoy learning in the welcoming and well-planned environment. They access a range of resources which helps them to develop their skills and prepares them for their future and starting school.’
‘Children develop good self-help skills, confidence and independence particularly while exploring nature in the woodland area. This is because staff patiently encourage them to do things for themselves and provide time for children to practise their skills.
